Zach Top Keeps the Funniest Country Music Conspiracy Alive — The Internet Won’t Let Go of the Alan Jackson “Father–Son” Theory
One of the funniest, most beloved conspiracies of the year is back — and Zach Top is leaning into it harder than ever.
The rising neo-traditional star continues to fuel the hilarious internet theory that Alan Jackson is actually his father (which is, of course, completely untrue). But that hasn’t stopped fans — and now comedians — from keeping the joke alive.
During a new episode of Sundae Conversation with Caleb Pressley and Glenny Balls, the “I Never Lie” singer proved he’s more than happy to play along.
The Conspiracy That Won’t Die — Because It’s Too Damn Funny
The entire joke started because Zach Top looks and sounds shockingly similar to Alan Jackson.
The cowboy hat.
The swagger.
The smooth, traditional country tone.
The unmistakable twang.
It’s all there — so much so that even radio host Docc Andrews jokingly “investigated” and discovered that Alan Jackson happened to be performing in Washington — Zach Top’s home state — around the time Zach would’ve been conceived.
Coincidence? Of course.
Funny? Absolutely.
Sundae Conversation Pours Gasoline on the Fire
At the start of the interview, Pressley wastes no time diving straight into the viral rumor:
“Do you ever get compared to other artists?”
Zach Top grins — he knows exactly where this is going.
“A lot… Yeah, I get a lot of Alan Jackson and Randy Travis and Keith Whitley comparisons. Yeah, I get tired of it after a little while.”
Pressley then jokes that interviewers aren’t original anymore because all they want to ask is whether he’s Alan Jackson’s long-lost son.
Then he lands the punchline:
“How does it make your real dad feel to suggest that Alan Jackson porked your mom?”
Zach Top breaks into laughter.
His reply?
“I don’t know. I asked them — my mom and my dad… They didn’t give me any kind of straight answer, so I’m still in the dark.”
Perfect comedic timing.
Perfect delivery.
Perfect way to keep the bit alive.
Let’s Be Clear: Alan Jackson Is Not His Father — But the Joke Lives On
Just to repeat:
Alan Jackson is not Zach Top’s dad.
But Zach has embraced the absurdity of the joke — and fans are loving every minute of it.
Earlier this year, Zach opened for Alan Jackson during his Last Call Tour, making the “conspiracy” even funnier. And now, fans are hoping Jackson will invite Zach to his final Nashville show next summer for a heartwarming, totally fake, “father–son” moment on stage.
One thing’s for sure:
Whether or not he shares DNA with Alan Jackson, Zach Top is one of the brightest and funniest young stars in country music today.
